Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Sage Speak (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our iOS mobile application. Sage Speak is published under the Timete name.

Summary

  • No Sage Speak account — you do not create a username or password in the app.
  • Most data stays on your device — settings, chat history, and usage preferences are stored locally on your phone.
  • Questions are processed to generate answers — when you ask a question, the text is sent to our backend so an AI model can produce a source-grounded reply. We do not use your questions for advertising.
  • No advertising SDKs — we do not show ads or embed third-party advertising trackers.
  • Subscriptions — if you subscribe, payment and subscription status are handled by Apple and RevenueCat (see below).

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for Sage Speak is the operator of Timete. Contact support@timete.lu for privacy enquiries.

Information stored on your device

The app may store the following locally on your device:

  • Language and onboarding preferences
  • Tradition and display settings
  • Chat history with figures (saved conversations)
  • Weekly question quota usage and subscription tier cache

You can clear chat history from the app settings. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data from your device.

Information processed when you ask a question

When you send a message in a chat, the app transmits:

  • Your question text and recent conversation context
  • The selected tradition and figure
  • Your UI language
  • Relevant source passages retrieved on-device for citation

This data is sent to our backend (hosted on Supabase) solely to generate an answer. The backend calls third-party AI providers to produce responses. We configure these services for processing only; we do not sell your questions.

A pseudonymous session identifier may be created automatically so the backend can authenticate requests. This is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID in the app.

Subscriptions and purchases

If you purchase a subscription, Apple processes payment. We use RevenueCat to validate entitlements and unlock paid features. RevenueCat and Apple may process identifiers related to your purchase (for example App Store transaction data and an anonymous app user ID). We do not receive your full payment card details.

Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.

What we do not collect

  • No account registration with email or password in the app
  • No precise location tracking
  • No contact list, photos, or microphone access for chat
  • No third-party analytics or advertising networks in the app

Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

Where GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Contract — processing needed to provide answers and subscriptions you request
  • Legitimate interests — securing and operating the service, preventing abuse, and improving reliability
  • Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information by law

Retention

Chat history on your device is kept until you clear it or uninstall the app. Backend logs and AI processing data are retained only as long as needed to operate the service, troubleshoot issues, and meet legal obligations, then deleted or anonymised.

International transfers

Our service providers (including hosting and AI providers) may process data in countries outside your own. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used.

Children

Sage Speak is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object or withdraw consent where applicable. Contact support@timete.lu. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
