Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Wawata (“the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our iOS mobile application. Wawata is published under the Timete name.
Questions: support@timete.lu
Summary
- No Wawata account — you do not create a username or password for core journal use.
- Your journal stays on your device — wishes, journey steps, reflections, photos, and preferences are stored locally.
- No journal cloud backend — we do not host or read your wish text on our servers.
- No advertising SDKs — we do not show ads or embed third-party advertising trackers.
- Subscriptions — if you subscribe to Wawata Pro, payment and subscription status are handled by Apple and RevenueCat (see below).
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for Wawata is the operator of Timete. Contact support@timete.lu for privacy enquiries.
Information stored on your device
Depending on how you use the app, local storage may include:
- Display name and chosen kaitiaki (guardian symbol)
- Wish titles, sparks, milestones, reflections, and progress
- Photos you attach to wishes (saved in the app sandbox)
- Reminder time and appearance preferences
- Encrypted local database contents
This data stays in the app’s private storage unless you export it, share a wish, or use device backup (for example iCloud when enabled). You can erase all wishes from the app settings. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data from your device.
Optional cloud features
If you enable features that sync or sign in (when available), only the data required for that feature is sent to the configured service provider. Those flows are disclosed in-app before you opt in.
Subscriptions and purchases
If you purchase Wawata Pro, Apple processes payment. We use RevenueCat to validate entitlements and unlock paid features. RevenueCat and Apple may process identifiers related to your purchase (for example App Store transaction data and an anonymous app user ID). We do not receive your full payment card details or your wish content.
Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.
Export and sharing (Pro)
Pro may let you export a CSV or PDF or share a wish summary via the system share sheet. You choose when and where that data goes. We do not receive copies of exports or shares.
What we do not collect
- No account registration with email or password for core use
- No reading of your wish text on our servers
- No sale or rental of personal information
- No third-party analytics or advertising networks in the journal
Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract — processing needed to provide the app and subscriptions you request
- Legitimate interests — securing and operating the service, preventing abuse, and improving reliability
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information by law
Retention
Journal data on your device is kept until you erase it or uninstall the app. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to respond and meet legal obligations.
Children
Wawata is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object or withdraw consent where applicable. Contact support@timete.lu. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Material changes may also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
