Terms of Use

Last updated: 17 July 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Wawata mobile application (“the app”) published under Timete. By using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. The service

Wawata is a personal wish and journey journal for individual, non-commercial use on iOS. The app helps you record wishes, steps, and reflections locally on your device.

2. Not professional advice

Wawata is a notebook, not therapy, coaching, medical, or financial advice. If you are in distress, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services in your region.

3. Eligibility

You must be old enough to consent to these Terms in your jurisdiction and to use the App Store in your country. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the app only with a parent or guardian’s permission.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the text, photos, and other material you create in the app (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of Your Content. Because the journal is stored locally, you are responsible for backups and device security.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Wawata offers a free tier and an optional Wawata Pro subscription. Prices and billing periods are shown in the app before purchase. Payment is processed by Apple. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your Apple ID subscription settings. Refunds are handled according to Apple’s policies.

Free and Pro feature sets may evolve; material reductions to paid features will be communicated in-app where practical.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the app for unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits, security, or payment systems
  • Reverse engineer or scrape the service at scale except where law permits
  • Interfere with the app’s operation or security

7. Intellectual property

The app, its design, and original materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Māori cultural elements are used with respect; guardians and colour names reference te ao Māori symbolism as described in-app. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control.

8. Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE OPERATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP OR SUBSCRIPTIONS IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR EUR 50 IF YOU USED ONLY FREE FEATURES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information. It forms part of these Terms.

11. Changes and termination

We may update the app or these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. We may suspend or discontinue the app with reasonable notice where practicable.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.
